I earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing from Orvis School of Nursing, University of Nevada Reno in 1995. I worked mostly in critical care until returning to school and completing dual certification in family nurse practitioner (FNP) and acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP) and master’s degree in nursing from Colorado State University-Pueblo in 2006. As an FNP and ACNP, I worked in Hospital medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Addiction Medicine and Family Practice. In 2020 I completed a post-master’s certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP). I am board certified in all three disciplines. Â
I came to CVH to continue my career in psychiatry. I grew up in Northern Nevada and feel strongly about serving our community. Mental health is a difficult subject for so many people and yet so important for quality of life. My hope is to provide the northern Nevada community with comprehensive psychiatric care allowing the patient to feel heard, understood and welcome. Psychiatric care is more than anxiety and depression; it can involve substance abuse or dependence, past trauma causing behavioral challenges in your life and/or cognitive challenges that contribute to mood changes.Â
I love it when I am able to be a part of someone coming through a dark time in their life and finding hope again. I am excited and proud to be a part of the CVH Behavioral Health team, we are all working toward normalizing seeking care for psychiatric illness.Â
I have been married to Cody Farnworth Ed.D for 23 years. Cody has been an administrator with Carson City School District for 15+ years and has accepted the position of principal for the Virginia City middle school and high school. We have two children, Cash, pursuing a degree in architecture while also in the Naval Officers program at the University of Idaho, and Caydee, who played collegiate softball in Colorado. Due to a knee injury, she has returned home to Nevada and will finish her education in nursing. We have four dogs, three of which are French bulldogs. Ollie Pipin (O.P.) is a registered therapy dog and comes to work with me on occasion. Â
I am passionate about health and wellness both physically and mentally. I believe psychiatric health is equally if not more important than physical health as without the first the latter will ultimately suffer. Â
My hobbies include my Frenchie’s and doing therapy work with O.P. My husband and I both enjoy weightlifting and hiking. We have recently been doing cold plunging and have found it to be amazing for mental and physical health.Â
I grew up shooting a bow and was Nevada State champion in my age group for a few years (there were no other ten-year-old females shooting archery in Nevada at the time, so it was easy to maintain my title!).
Ollie Pipin, Therapy Dog
My name is Ollie Pipin, they call me O.P. for short. I am a French Bulldog and was born in Budapest, Hungary. I came to live with my people in Carson City, Nevada in May 2021. I started obedience training at age six months. I was quite a handful, so my person let me just be a puppy for another year. When I turned three years old and was wiser and more mature, my person started advanced obedience and then therapy dog training. In March 2024, I passed my evaluations and became a registered therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs. I come to work in the Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic with my person and visit adolescents in detention facilities. Â
At work at CVH Behavioral Health I sit with patients, staff and my person providing a calming presence. I have been known to lay across the feet of anxious people. I take naps between patient visits and because I am a bulldog, I snort a lot and that makes people smile and laugh. Â
When I am not working, I like to chase the ball, go hiking and sleep on my humans. I bring love and goofiness everywhere I visit! Â Â
