Carson Valley Medical Center -- A Healthy Carson Valley: Your Community. Our Mission.

Our mission is to care for your health and wellness.

Our vision is to strengthen our community by providing accessible, affordable, high-quality healthcare to all.

In the early 1990s, the high demand for medical services in the Carson Valley resulted in a plan to provide these much needed services to the area. That plan was Carson Valley Health (CVH).

CVH opened its doors in December 1993. The medical center brought primary care, family and internal medicine physicians, as well as outpatient services and an urgent care together under one roof. The outpatient services covered a variety of areas such as laboratory, physical therapy, pharmacy and medical imaging. The facility also housed a number of specialists including orthopedics, podiatry, gynecology, urology and cardiology. Soon after the first phase was complete, talk of beginning the second phase began.

Completed in 1995, the second phase of the project brought an outpatient surgery center, replaced the Urgent Care with a 24-hour Emergency Room, and added rehabilitation therapy to the CVH. These services provided the residents of Carson Valley an opportunity to stay close to home for high quality medical care, offering a great assortment of diagnostic tests, lab services and ambulatory surgery, a great improvement but still no inpatient hospitalization.

In 2004, the Critical Access Hospital opened with 15 Acute Care beds. Primary Care Topaz Ranch opened in 2006, serving the primary care needs of residents in Topaz Ranch Estates, Wellington, Smith Valley, Yerington, Coleville and the surrounding areas. In 2007, CVH expanded its hospital to include an ICU. A complete listing of services offered at CVH can be found here.

In 2008, Primary Care Virginia Ranch and Primary Care Minden Village joined CVH. The following year, CVH Senior Care was opened to provide specialized primary care services to patients over 65.

CVH responded to a great need in the community by opening Vitality for Life in 2010. Vitality for Life offers mental health and wellness services to patients over the age of 65.

In 2014, CVH opened its Ironwood building in Minden, which houses urgent care, primary care and occupational health services.

2017 marked a year of expansion for CVH’s primary care offerings as new providers were added to Primary Care Ironwood, Primary Care Minden Village, Primary Care Virginia Ranch and CVH Senior Care.

In 2019, CVH responded to the community’s demand by opening up the Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic.

Beginning in 2021, the organization embarked on a much-needed expansion to include new space for our hospital, emergency room, radiology department and surgical services. The expansion opened in December 2024 adding two GI suites, and Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Cath Lab, an expanded ER, state-of-the-art imaging technology, and bringing the private patient rooms to 25.

Today, CVH has a reputation as the quality, compassionate local healthcare provider in Carson Valley, bringing the community a hospital, surgery center, 24-hour emergency room, advanced diagnostic services, and physician offices/clinics throughout the area.
