American Heart Association Courses

We are currently accepting registrations for the following list of classes. You may register and pick up books by contacting Lisa Tremaine, ltremaine@carsonvalleyhealth.org, 775.782.1506. Students must be registered on or before the registration deadline for each class. Please give 48-hours notice if possible when cancelling attendance for a class.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

This course teaches providers to respond to a cardiovascular emergency. It is intended for physicians, nurses, EMT’s, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals. ACLS provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage the first 10 minutes of an adult cardiac arrest. Pre-requisites include current BLS certification and a completed mandatory pre-course exam. The pretest can be accessed by going to https://elearning.heart.org and completing the Precourse Self-Assessment. You must pass the pre-test with a 70% or better to be allowed access into the class. 

Cost: Free for CVH employees, $250 for community members (cost includes book)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Course

This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and use an AED. The course includes adult, child, and infant rescue skills in both the out-of-hospital and in-hospital settings.

Cost: Free for CVH employees, $70 for community members (cost includes book)
