Patients who have a sore or wound that isn’t healing or has failed to improve significantly will benefit from the services provided at the CVH Wound Care Center.
The Wound Care Center at Carson Valley Health provides treatment for various types of non-healing wounds, including:
- Infected wounds
- Infected surgical wounds
- Pressure ulcers
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Venous ulcers
- Ostomy care and education
- Dermatitis
- Open post-operation wounds
Upon referral to the Wound Care Center from your primary care physician or surgeon, a wound care nurse or APRN will evaluate your wound and put together a treatment plan in collaboration with your physician.
Treatment at the CVH Wound Care Center is provided in a patient-centered environment. We recognize that each wound is unique and your care is customized and individualized to your needs and your lifestyle.
Primary Services
Your care in the Wound Care Center may include the following:
- Appropriate selection of dressings or medications for your wound.
- Wound debridement or removal of unhealthy tissue.
- Negative pressure wound vacuum therapy.
- If necessary, surgical debridement of the wound in the operating room.
Other Services
The Wound Care Center offers referrals to other health services that may be helpful to people with chronic wounds. These services may include the following:
- Home health
- Nutritional counseling
- Physical therapy
- Referral to appropriate specialists
