Carson Valley Health has been awarded The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Acute Heart Attack Ready Certification.
“We are so proud of this achievement,” said Shannon Rogers, CEO of Carson Valley Health. “It really reflects our team’s commitment to our community to provide the highest quality cardiac care.”
The Joint Commission conducted an onsite review in April. Surveyors evaluated emergency cardiac care processes, staff training, care coordination, patient communication, and transfer protocols against nationally recognized best practices through observations and interviews across the organization.
“Advanced Acute Heart Attack Ready Certification recognizes healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer for The Joint Commission. “We commend Carson Valley Health for using The Joint Commission certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and to strengthen its clinical program to drive safer, higher quality, and more compassionate care for individuals served.”
Through the certification process, the Emergency Department team strengthened cardiac emergency care by expanding staff training, updating protocols, improving team coordination, and conducting ongoing reviews of evidence-based practices to identify opportunities for improvement. These efforts support more consistent care for patients experiencing a cardiac event.
“We congratulate Carson Valley Health for this outstanding achievement,” says Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association. “This certification reflects its commitment to providing the highest quality of care for cardiac patients.”
