Orthotics

When your feet are hurting, even simple activities can feel overwhelming. At Carson Valley Health, we understand. It’s why we offer custom orthotics, a specialized service designed to address foot issues, reduce pain, and help you get back to living your life.

We make custom orthotics that fit into your shoes and are molded to the shape of your foot. By correcting the alignment of the foot, orthotics can reduce pain and help people perform everyday tasks with greater comfort—or get back to recreational activities they’ve been missing.

Custom orthotics can help address foot conditions such as:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Bunions
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Plantar fasciitis

Foot pain isn’t the only problem custom orthotics can address. Uncorrected foot problems can create a chain reaction through your body, which may lead to pain higher up. That’s why, for instance, correcting the positioning of the feet can often reduce pain by improving the alignment of the:

  • Hips
  • Knees
  • Back

Why choose custom orthotics at Carson Valley Health?

Unlike over-the-counter shoe inserts, at CVH, you’ll receive orthotics that are individually designed for your unique feet. And we make them for people of all ages.

At CVH:

  • We choose materials to accommodate the rigidity or flexibility of your feet, so you get the right amount of cushioning.
  • We offer different thicknesses that work with low-volume shoes, ski boots, or other footwear.
  • A physical therapist with advanced training and years of experience will perform a gait analysis to assess how you walk. This helps us identify issues, such as excessive pronation, that can lead to pain and increased pressure on the feet. It’s part of how we determine the best custom orthotics for you.
  • The physical therapist who fits your orthotic will also work closely with your podiatrist or other provider to address the overall health of your feet.

What to expect when you come to CVH for orthotics

A physical therapist trained in foot orthotics will assess your feet and your gait, then select the appropriate size and thickness of orthotic materials. The materials will be heated so that they’re warm and pliable. You’ll then stand on this molding foam while the therapist shapes your orthotics to your feet.

We’ll send your foot mold to a specialized lab that will stabilize the shape of your orthotics with an additional layer of material. When your orthotics are ready, you can pick them up at our clinic, put them in your shoes, and start using them right away.

Our goal is to help you get back to the activities you want and need to do without being limited by foot pain.
