If you’ve had a heart issue, going to cardiac rehabilitation could be one of the best things for you.
Cardiac rehabilitation (cardiac rehab) combines exercise and education to help people get stronger and healthier after a heart problem or procedure. It has been clinically proven to reduce your risk of hospitalization, improve your quality of life, and reduce your risk dying from heart disease. Cardiac rehab helps people avoid future heart problems, like a second heart attack. It can also help reduce stress and improve your ability to participate in your favorite activities again.
Many people can benefit from cardiac rehab, including those who have a history of:
- Heart attack.
- Coronary artery disease.
- Angina (chest discomfort).
- Coronary artery bypass surgery.
- Stent procedures.
- Heart valve replacement.
- Stable chronic heart failure.
Cardiac rehab experts who safely care for you
If you’ve had a heart attack or another heart issue, we understand that you may be concerned about exercising safely. But exercise is often a key part of a person’s recovery. And as experts in cardiac rehab, we are here to guide and support you. We’ll design an exercise program just for you and provide medical supervision to help ensure your safety. Cardiologist Chris Rowan, MD, FACC oversees our program. And our team members will monitor your vital signs while you work out in our well-equipped facility.
What to expect in our cardiac rehab program
Most participants attend outpatient cardiac rehab three times a week, for six (6) weeks. During that time, you will:
- Exercise to get stronger. You will exercise on our stationary bikes, treadmills or other gym equipment. Your exercise intensity will gradually increase as your fitness level improves.
- Learn to make heart-healthy changes. We’ll teach you about heart-healthy food choices and help you manage risk factors that cause or worsen heart disease.
- Receive emotional support, such as help with stress management.
